Halm im Treppenhaus
Durch das Treppenhaus wächst raumgreifend über 4 Etagen bis unter die Lichtkuppel ein Halm. Er ist aus 3 Ahornstämmen herausgearbeitet. Die Leichtigkeit der Skulptur wird durch die ausgehöhlten Stämme betont, ihre Statik ist im gegenseitigen Schub und Zug ausbalanciert. Der Besucher wird um den Halm zu den verschiedenen Etagen geleitet, wenn er die Treppe hinauf steigt.
Durch das Treppenhaus wächst raumgreifend über 4 Etagen bis unter die Lichtkuppel ein Halm. Er ist aus 3 Ahornstämmen herausgearbeitet. Die Leichtigkeit der Skulptur wird durch die ausgehöhlten Stämme betont, ihre Statik ist im gegenseitigen Schub und Zug ausbalanciert. Der Besucher wird um den Halm zu den verschiedenen Etagen geleitet, wenn er die Treppe hinauf steigt.
Wheat Straw in a Stairwell
The straw stretches up from the stairwell through all 4 floors all the way to the domed ceiling window. The 20 m high sculpture was made from 3 maple trees and maintains its balance by the mutual push and pull of the trunks against each other. The airiness and lightness of the sculpture is emphasized by the hollow trucks. The total impression created is aspiration and ascension toward the light. Visitors are led around the straw as they climb the stairs to the different floors.
